1. Certification by the programme convenor that the candidate has undergone 18 months training, including 3 months in the Intensive Care Unit, 6 months in Traumas and 6 months in General Surgery and 3 months in a sub-speciality.
2. Certification by the programme convenor of having completed 21/2 years of specialised surgical training, allowing the candidate to sit for the Part II of the FCS (SA) examination.
3. The presentation of a dissertation on an aspect of surgical research in addition to 1 and 2.
