PURPOSE OF Neftaly SAQA Course 9777 Polish stars on makeable diamond gemstones NQF Level 02 Credits 02

This unit standard is for persons required to polish the eight-star facets of diamond gemstones. This process is known as star-making.

A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:
Identify the equipment and tools used to add stars to diamond gemstones and describe their application.
Demonstrate knowledge of the structure of diamond gemstones and the implications for polishing.
Set and clamp diamond gemstones for making stars.
Polish the eight-star facets on diamond gemstones.
Conduct post-star-making cleaning, checking, and security activities.
