PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
This Unit Standard enables the learner to identify and use various information-gathering tools in a specific community development context. Learners will learn how to use such tools in order to be able to compile information and present it to relevant stakeholders including a community committee or a project team or a supervisor.
This Unit Standard is intended for learners who will engage in a specific community development project where a social profile or assessment of community needs is required. The learner will most likely be working as part of a project team, reporting to a project manager, or might be a community-based development worker facilitating internal development processes. This unit standard is written specifically with the facilitation of social participation in mind.
The qualifying learner is capable of:
Identifying and explaining tools and methods for information-gathering purposes in a community context
Using appropriate tools and methods to gather information in a community context
Organising, evaluating and presenting information relating to a community context
