PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
Learners who demonstrate competence against this standard will be able to apply and monitor fundamental controls relevant to leather manufacturing through reading and applying recipes, process sheets and standard operating procedures, identifying, measuring and applying chemicals, reading, applying and recording process applications and recording time accurately.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
Receiving and inspecting leather.
Measuring, assessing and marking hides.
Selecting and laying out setups, tools and equipment.
Operating cutting department machines.
Counting, stacking and batching components.
Completing cutting schedules, job cards and quality assurance.
