Integrated Assessment:
All of the modules for the Master of Sustainability Management will be continuously assessed through formative and summative assessments, as required by the institutional Assessment Policy.

Learners will be assessed against knowledge and skills in sustainability management using a variety of standard testing tasks (written work, quizzes, case studies, summative assessments (exams), qualification participation etc.), both during the on-line components and the three immersive sessions; learners will receive written feedback on all assessments. (These assessments will be either formative or summative).

Learners will actively engage and apply module lessons and specified activities within their professional settings and provide feedback on their efforts via monitored discussions boards, graded written assignments and input to their peers.

The research project will allow research skills in the application of sustainability management to the professional environment to be assessed by means of a substantial written report comprising literature review, research questions, methodology, data presentation and analysis, findings and recommendations going forward. Across the qualification, learners will be required to demonstrate and will be assessed by lecturing staff on their ability to effectively communicate sustainability challenges, opportunities and recommendations for change.

Within the Global Sustainability Challenges module, learners will be asked to research and describe from a sustainability perspective emerging global issues and to demonstrate their ability for self-education in these areas.

Summative assessment will be conducted in strict compliance with the Assessment Policy of the institution. Marks will be allocated primarily to summative assessments. A pass mark must be obtained for each module of the qualification in order for the degree to be conferred. Completed assessments (with a sub-minimum for each section of each module) will be retained in a portfolio of work which will subsequently be sent for external moderation; each module will include one substantial assessment which will ensure that outcomes are assessed in an integrated manner.

The research project (which will similarly integrate outcomes) will also be externally moderated.
