Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 1:
Combat weapons are categorised based on the principles of operation of each weapon system.
Safety precautions and field stripping are performed as indicated in the workshop repair manual for each weapon.
Weapon serviceability is determined through visual inspection and gauging using special tools.
Job cards are completed stating the serviceability or faults identified for each weapon.
Weapons are assembled and tested for functionality based on the combat weapon principles.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 2:
Full stripping is performed in accordance with the workshop repair manual using the specified tools and equipment.
Fault diagnosis is done using the specified special tools and equipment in accordance with the workshop repair manual for each weapon.
Sandblasting, surface treatment and curing processes are performed taking the risks of chemicals and the dangers associated with the process into account.
Weapons are assembled and functionally tested in accordance with the workshop repair manual.
Weapons are test fired to confirm and test the functionality and rates of fire of the weapon, taking in account the risks associated with the handling, distribution, storing and accounting of the ammunition.

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 3:
Fault diagnosis on a specific electrical test bench is performed to identify and fix the fault taking the risks of working with electrical test equipment into account.
Fault diagnoses on an electronic test bench is performed using a circuit diagram and testing equipment taking into account the risks associated with electronic testing equipment.
Modular replacement is done on an electronic test bench to rectify identified faults to comply with the requirements of the circuit diagram.

Integrated Assessment:
Integrated Formative Assessment:
The skills development provider will use the curriculum to guide them on the stipulated internal assessment criteria and weighting. They will also apply the scope of practical skills and applied knowledge as stipulated by the internal assessment criteria. This formative assessment leads to entrance into the integrated external summative assessment.

Integrated Summative Assessment:
An external integrated summative assessment, conducted through the relevant Quality Council Trading Occupation (QCTO) Assessment Quality Partner is required for the issuing of this qualification. The external integrated summative assessment will focus on the exit level outcomes and associated assessment criteria. The external summative assessment will be a trade test conducted in terms of Section 26 D of the Skills Development Act through an evaluation of written and practical tasks covering critical aspects of the trade and conducted in a simulated environment at an assessment centre accredited by QCTO by an assessor registered by the National Artisan Moderation Body. The assessment will take place over a minimum of 2 days.
