Associated Assessment Criteria Exit Level Outcome 1:
Health, Safety and Environmental mandatory requirements for trade related hand tools; identify pipe materials, components and consumables are interpreted, applied and adhered to.
The required tools are identified, selected, inspected and used for the identified task as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
Non-conforming tools and equipment are reported and dealt with accordingly.
Care and storage procedures of tools and equipment are adhered to.
Pipe materials, components, bolts, nuts and consumables are identified and their uses explained.
The handling and storage procedures for pipe materials and related components are explained and adhered to.
Work standards are complied with.
Associated Assessment Criteria Exit Level Outcome 2:
Health, Safety and Environmental mandatory requirements for trade related measuring, marking off, power tools and associated thermal processes are interpreted, applied and adhered to.
The required measuring, marking off and power tools are identified, selected, inspected and used under supervision as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
Thermal cutting and heating process equipment identified, inspected, set-up and used under supervision as per manufacturer’s specifications.
Non-conforming thermal cutting, heating equipment, measuring, marking off, power tools and equipment are reported and dealt with accordingly.
Care and storage procedures of measuring, marking off and power tools and equipment are adhered to.
Work standards are complied with.
Associated Assessment Criteria Exit Level Outcome 3:
Health, Safety and Environmental mandatory requirements when maintaining, fabricating and installing threaded pipe systems and related components are interpreted, applied and adhered to.
Engineering drawing principles and techniques are interpreted and applied.
Fundamental threaded pipe systems maintenance, fabrication, installation principles and work methodologies are applied.
Work standards are complied with.
Associated Assessment Criteria Exit Level Outcome 4:
Health, Safety and Environmental mandatory requirements when maintaining, fabricating and installing welded pipe systems and related components are interpreted, applied and adhered to.
Engineering drawing principles and techniques are interpreted and applied.
Welded pipe systems maintenance, fabrication, installation principles and work methodologies are applied.
Work standards are complied with.
Integrated Assessment:
Integrated formative assessment:
The skills development provider will use the curriculum to guide them on the stipulated internal assessment criteria and weighting. They will also apply the scope of practical skills and applied knowledge as stipulated by the internal assessment criteria. This formative assessment leads to entrance into the integrated external summative assessment.
Integrated summative assessment:
An external integrated summative assessment, conducted through the relevant Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) Assessment Quality Partner is required for the issuing of this qualification. The external integrated summative assessment will focus on the exit level outcomes and associated assessment criteria. The external summative assessment will be a trade test conducted in terms of Section 26 D of the Skills Development Act through an evaluation of written and practical tasks covering critical aspects of the trade and conducted in a simulated environment at an assessment centre accredited by QCTO by an assessor registered by National Artisan Moderation Body. The assessment will take place over a maximum of two (2) days.
