Learners will have to demonstrate their knowledge and skills by means of the following range of comprehensive assessment criteria:
1. Evidence of their profound knowledge of the theory underpinning the basic principles in Biology.
2. Actual and/or simulated teaching and learning activities which integrate the theory and the practice.
3. Critical analyses and comparison of information from the Biology.
4. Reports on research and projects undertaken form the specialist area and in educational context.
5. Portfolios of field work.
6. Assignments relevant to the specialist area Biology, which result from the data collection, analysis, organising, and the critical evaluation of a variety of activities.
7. Effective communication and interaction with individuals and groups.
8. Finding of solutions to problems in actual and simulated learning and teaching situations, which are based on sound decision making principles and skills, taught.
INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT
Continuous assessment, authentic assessment strategies and or simulated assessment techniques will be adopted and integrated with regard to the knowledge and skills that learners will have to acquire
Multiple assessment will include regular written tests, assignments and projects on the theory and the implementation of practical skills of the underpinning principles in Biology
Assessment in this specialist area will result from data collected and data analysed, data organised and the critical evaluation from activities/experiments/field trips of results and findings
A detailed record and monitoring of the learners progress will be maintained.
Summative assessment in the form of written examination and or laboratory work
