Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 1:
The most appropriate treatment options are motivated and selected according to the client’s specific needs.
Advanced aesthetic treatments are performed within the accepted protocols of the profession.
Knowledge of the field of aesthetic medicine is integrated with an understanding to apply and evaluate key terms, concepts, fact, principles, rules and theories within the aesthetic medicine field.
Medical professionals are assisted with certain medical aesthetic practices (Medium and Deep chemical peelings, Laser treatments, pre-and post-operative care).
Selected non-invasive advanced aesthetic treatments are performed under close supervision of a medical practitioner.
Medical practitioners are assisted with certain pre- and post-operative procedures in certain medical aesthetic procedures.
Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 2:
Clients’ complex problems are analysed, critically reflected upon and addressed.
Evidence is provided based on solutions and theory driven arguments when prescribing a treatment plan and home care plan to best improve and manage the client’s condition/s.
A comprehensive treatment plan is prepared to address client’s specific needs.
A home care treatment plan is prepared to address client’s specific needs and manage her condition/s.
Clients are advised on lifestyle advice to manage her specific needs.
Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 3:
Hygienic working conditions are maintained within a clinical setting.
An awareness of the Health and Safety requirements within a clinical setting is demonstrated.
A professional image is projected and ethics are displayed at all times.
Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 4:
Skin and body conditions are identified for possible contra-indications to treatments.
Conditions that fall outside the scope of practice of Somatologist are identified and referred to professionals.
Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 5:
The development of communication between health care providers is advanced by establishing a referral network.
Theories, knowledge and skills are applied to solve new unfamiliar problems within the context.
Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 6:
Appropriate processes of information gathering are developed, the source of information is independently validated and information in the preparation of a research protocol is evaluated and managed and a relevant research project is completed.
Ideas and opinions are developed and communicated in well-formed arguments, using appropriate academic and professional discourse.
Integrated Assessment:
Assessment practices must be open, transparent, fair, valid, and reliable and ensure that no learner is disadvantaged in any way. An integrated assessment approach is thus incorporated into the qualification to ensure the specific purpose of the qualification is met.
The development of the competencies may be through a combination of formal and informal learning, self-study, group work and workshops.
Integrated assessment is evident through the variety of formative and summative methods.
Formative assessment may be made by means of, but not limited to:
Assignments – written assignments to review questions on theory.
Written theory tests (online).
Summative assessment may be made by means of, but not limited to:
Written examinations.
Case study.
Continuous assessment will help to develop an increasing critical awareness of the learner’s own progress and will empower him/her to improve future performance. It also will help the lecturers to develop a critical awareness of the needs of individual learners.
