Assume autonomy, responsibility and accountability in the effective management of maternal and neonatal care in all settings to ensure quality of care.

3. Use equipment and technology in health settings safely, appropriately and ethically.

Assessment criteria associated with Specific Outcomes:

1. Perform an antenatal, intra partum, post natal and neonatal assessment.

2. Diagnose common minor ailments and emergencies of midwifery and neonatal nursing;
Identify health indicators and risk factors for mother and child.

3. Apply technology skills to maternal and child care;
Creatively improvise when technology is lacking.

4. Demonstrate communication skills relevant to midwifery.

Integrated assessment to ensure that the purpose of the qualification is achieved:

Continuous assessment:
mentorship;
individualisation;
supervision.

Formative assessment:
Assignments, tests, practical assessment.

Summative assessment:
Theoretical assessment: SANC;
Practical assessment: Nursing School.
