Accurately collect, analyse and interpret data against the body of scientific knowledge
Formulate a nursing diagnosis
Identify risk factors and areas for improvement of health care
Identify health needs, prioritise and set short and long-term objectives for a plan of care
Implement planned interventions with active involvement of individuals, families and members of the health team
Accurately monitor and record progress of patients/clients and outcomes of interventions
Develop a discharge plan in collaboration with individuals, families and members for the health care team

3. Correctly check and store ward stock safely

4. Demonstrate the basic life support skills

Actively involve the communities and other stakeholders in the management of emergency situations

5. Constantly act within the scope of practice of a registered nurse

Interpret and apply correctly the acts and regulations that govern and influence the nursing practice in South Africa

6. Apply the principles enshrined in the Constitution of South Africa and the patients` bill of rights to advocate for improvement of health care
Demonstrate the application of the advocacy process in dealing with individuals and families

7. Actively participate in promotion and protection of health care providers` rights
