PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION
This Honours programme is the first year of postgraduate study in Afrikaans and Netherlandic Studies. It is designed to provide the opportunity for further intensive study in Afrikaans and Netherlandic Studies and training in concepts and research methods designed to equip the candidate with the skills necessary either for employment in teaching; electronic and paper media publishing; NGO and Government Service; Translation; Diplomatic Service; Tourism; Cultural Entrepreneurship; Public Relations or for further study at Masters and Doctoral level in Afrikaans and Netherlandic Studies or a related subject area.

This Honours programme is the first year of postgraduate study in African Studies. The programme is intended to be a comparative study of Languages, Literature and Culture; training in concepts and research methods designed to equip the candidate with the skills necessary either for employment in the fields mentioned above or for further study at Masters and Doctoral level in Afrikaans and Netherlandic Studies or a related subject area.

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
This unit standard is for those who are responsible for planning the implementation of learnerships and/or apprenticeships within organisations.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
Analyse the environment to determine needs and opportunities for implementing Learnerships and/or Apprenticeships.
Develop a strategic plan for the use of Learnerships and/or Apprenticeships in an organisation.
Plan the implementation of Learnerships and/or Apprenticeships.
