This Unit Standard is for persons who are expected to perform soldering in the working environment. This unit standard will provide learners with methods and procedures to perform soldering operations.

Learners credited with this Unit Standard are capable of:

• Preparing for soldering.
• Identifying and placing components on the PC board.
• Perform soldering.
• Coat and encapsulate the PC board.
• Identify and solve problems of replacement parts by interpreting the datasheet correctly.
• Plan, organise and manage oneself and one’s activities responsibly and effectively by adhering to the set procedures when performing soldering.
• Collect, analyse, organise and critically evaluate technical information in order to do the proper placement of components.
• Using science and technology effectively and critically, showing responsibility towards the environment and others by adhering to health and safety regulations.
