a) Knowledge of the principles of surgery
b) Be able to perform all the regular operations in plastic surgery including:

Micro surgery
Hand surgery
Reconstructive head and neck surgery
Cosmetic surgery
Paediatric surgery

Integrated assessment:

Candidates must complete 4 years training in plastic surgery as a registrar at a teaching hospital.

Written exams:

FCS IA – primary examination of anatomy, physiology and pathology
FCS IB – intermediate examination of principles of surgery
FCS (Plast) – also a clinical examination
MMed – dissertation in plastic surgery
