1. Critical Cross-field Assessment Criteria:
1.1 Demonstrate knowledge in solving minor problems identified within scope of practice, and to distinguish those that need referral/reporting.
1.2.1 Be able to identify stakeholders in the health care and appreciate the role of each.
1.2.2 Demonstrate the ability to work well in a team.
1.3.1 Communicate effectively using visual, mathematical and/or language skill in modes of oral and written persuasion.
1.3.2 Give appropriate and relevant health education to group and individuals, including the use of resources.
1.3.3 Able to communicate effectively with all age groups and people with mental and physical disabilities/illness and stakeholders.
1.3.4 Establish, maintain and/or terminate therapeutic effective relationship.
1.3.5 Work effectively as a group leader and/or participant. Provide counselling and continued interpersonal communication with individuals, family, group and communities.
1.4.1 Attends and contributes in social activities in community development project on health issues within her scope of practice.
1.4.2 Takes responsibility to ensure continues professional development through in service training.
1.4.3 Identify own learning needs for enhancing knowledge and skills and improving practice
1.4.4 Explore and use opportunities for professional development.
1.4.5 Participate in self-directed learning activities aimed at improving knowledge and skills.
1.4.6 Assume responsibility for life long learning.
2. Specific Assessment Criteria
2.1.1 Create a therapeutic environment to meet the needs of individuals, groups, families and the community
2.1.2 Collect and interpret data against a body of scientific knowledge under direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse or midwife.
2.1.3 Demonstrate knowledge on nursing diagnosis
2.1.4 Identify risk factors and areas for improvement of health care
2.1.5 Adhere to principles of Batho Pele in the implementation of nursing and health care
2.1.6 Implement nursing care intervention with active involvement of individuals, families, and members of health team.
2.1.7 Monitor, record and report accurately progress of clients and the outcome of interventions
2.1.8 Demonstrate understanding of affective and psychomotor skill in the practice of his/her profession
2.2.1 Demonstrate knowledge of basic life support skills and provide emotional support to individuals, families and communities facing emergency and disaster situations.
2.2.2 Participate with communities and other stakeholders in the management of emergency situation under direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse or midwife
2.3.1 Identify and promote cost containing measures without compromising on the quality of patient care.
2.3.2 Use equipment and technology in health setting safely, appropriately and ethically within his/her scope of practice
2.4.1 Implement the scientific process of nursing and PHC principles to the nursing care of individuals, families, groups and communities
2.4.2 Demonstrate ethical behaviour in own practice
2.4.3 Respond effectively to the health care needs of society.
2.4.4 Demonstrate accountability for own practice.
2.5.1 Apply the principles enshrined in the constitution of South Africa and Patients’ Bill of Rights to advocate for improvement of health care.
2.5.2 Advocate for rights of patient under direct of indirect supervision of a registered nurse or midwife
2.5.3 Demonstrate the application of the advocacy process in dealing with individuals, families and communities
2.6.1 Promote safety of clients and patients in work and care settings.
2.6.2 Demonstrate sound knowledge of disciplinary procedures, grievance handling and code of conduct relevant to maintenance of good labour relations.
