1. Write research proposals that indicate that learners are able to identify gaps in history and formulate research problems and subsets of problems and suggest possible solutions to the problem(s).
Formulate hypotheses
Know, select and utilize research instruments that are relevant in the research of a specific problem in history.
Select and use appropriate data analysis methods to interpret the findings of an investigation into a historical problem.
Conduct fieldwork during the actual investigation.
Evaluate, interpret and pass judgements
Report the findings of the investigation, and formulate recommendations that emanate from the findings.
2. Identify and analyse different scientific/creative procedures in terms of the problem being researched.
3. Critically read, interpret and analyze literature from different sources.
Locate the literature and /or sources on the identified research problem or gap.
Compare the writings of different authors on the same topic.
Synthesize reading material on the topic being researched.
Draw conclusions from different readings and indicate anomalies.
Create a theoretical framework provided by the visual images and literature review.
Compile a complete bibliography with categorized sources which complement each other.
4. Write a comprehensive thesis that shows that the learner can express him/herself clearly.
Write a thesis that is linguistically correct, acceptable and of a high standard.
Write a thesis that is technically well presented and has an acceptable layout.
5. Engage in independent and original research exercises and utilize said skills in problem solving contexts in the vocational sphere.
Work effectively in community, organizational and appropriate vocational and career contexts by demonstrating leadership capabilities;
Contribute by applying the competence and leadership capacities in the various socio-political spheres.
Formative:
Research proposal, discussions, seminars.
Summative:
Thesis, oral examination.
