The assessment used for these outcomes to ensure that the purpose of the Qualification is achieved includes a range of formative and summative assessment methods such as portfolios, simulations, workplace assessments and written examinations. An assessment rubric will be used in all assessments.
The criteria used to assess whether outcomes are achieved will be whether.
The information and conceptual content of the work the student submits for marking, is accurate and valid.
The student shows the ability to correlate and integrate information and concepts learned in a range of modules and propose valid solutions for a range of theoretical and practical problems.
Solutions proposed for problems are environmentally sound and sustainable.
The student can write logical and coherent reports and essays based on independent research.
The student can satisfactorily complete assignments and portfolio’s and answer examination questions.
The student satisfactorily and independently completes practical and laboratory work.
Assessment Strategy:
Continuous and authentic assessment strategies will be utilized in the evaluation of learners.
Assessment rubrics will be used as an assessment tool.
Learners will have multiple opportunities using the following methods of assessment:
Regular assignments (written).
Examinations (written).
Laboratory exercises and reports.
Portfolio’s.
Written presentations of mini projects or seminars as either an individual or a group.
Practical projects and reports.
Field project reports.
Community development reports.
Computer programmes outputs and/or demonstrations.
Integrated assessment:
The Qualification is designed in a modular format.
In the final year learners will be required to complete portfolio projects that will assess their competency to apply all aspects of what they have learnt.
The learners will be assessed in modules via the following:
Summative examinations (maximum 70% of final mark).
Assignments.
Practical work.
Portfolios.
