The qualifying learner demonstrates the ability to:
1. Communicate effectively in visual, oral and written modes
2. Reflect critically on personal values, knowledge and skills and on a range of ideas, articles and texts
3. Collect, analyse, interpret and present information in a range of formats
4. Use technology responsibly, including basic computer skills, to undertake professional and academic tasks
5. Express learning aims objectively in the form of attainable and appropriate learning outcomes for individuals and groups
6. Choose from and use effectively a variety of teaching and assessment methods to meet learning aims and outcomes
7. Provide a rationale for learning design choices in terms of adult learning theory and principles
8. Report on the design, facilitation, management and assessment of learning activities
9. Analyse the social context of learning and teaching
10. Facilitate co-operative learning and problem solving in groups and teams
11. Analyse stakeholders’ needs as they relate to the design and provision of ETD practice
12. Evaluate learning/teaching activities, materials and approaches
13. Identify personal values, attitudes and learning/teaching styles in ETD practice
14. Reflect critically on ETD policies and their practical implications in classroom, community and workplace contexts
15. Use theory as a tool to illuminate and solve ETD problems in communities and workplaces
16. Design and implement learning support systems and assessment tools which monitor learners’ progress and inform programme development
17. Produce a small-scale, applied research/evaluation project. This project could be located in the areas of workplace education and training; Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET); Further and Higher Education and Training, or Community Education and Training.
Integrated Assessment:
Learners design a learning event and complete a small-scale research project showing their ability to analyse, select, justify and adapt theories and concepts appropriate to the task.
