Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 1:
Reserve parachute system is physically assembled correctly according to the manufacturer’s specifications and assembly instructions.
Assembled reserve parachute system is physically inspected in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications in order to confirm serviceability of components.
Reserve parachute canopy is packed into the container using the correct packing method.
The administration associated with the packing of a reserve parachute system is completed in accordance with the relevant legislation and regulations.
Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 2:
Basic patch repair is performed on a main parachute canopy in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions in order to restore the serviceability of the parachute system.
Main canopy line repair and replacement is performed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the materials and rigging techniques are correctly selected in order to restore the serviceability of the parachute system.
Rip-cord housing is hand tacked using the correct tools, material and rigging technique in order to restore the serviceability of the parachute system.
Grommet replacement is performed on a parachute system using the correct tools, material and rigging technique in order to restore the serviceability of the parachute system.
Bottom-of-container pouch repair is performed using the correct materials, tools and rigging technique as prescribed by the original equipment manufacturer.
Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcome 3:
Rib replacement is performed on a reserve parachute canopy using the correct tools, materials and rigging technique in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions in order to restore the serviceability of the parachute system.
Main lift web replacement is performed using the correct tools, materials and rigging technique in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions in order to restore the serviceability of the parachute system.
Control line replacement is performed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the correct selection of tools, material and rigging procedures in order to restore the serviceability of the parachute system.
A deployment bag is manufactured using the appropriate tools, materials and rigging techniques in order to restore the serviceability of the parachute system.
Integrated Assessment:
Integrated Formative Assessment:
The skills development provider will use the curriculum as a guide for the internal assessments (formative) by focussing on the stipulated internal assessment criteria and its weighting of the practical skills, knowledge and work experience modules. This formative assessment will enable a learner access into the integrated external summative assessment.
Integrated Summative Assessment:
An external integrated summative assessment, conducted through the relevant Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) Assessment Quality partner is required for the issuing of this qualification. The external integrated summative assessment will focus on the Exit Level Outcomes and Associated Assessment Criteria. The external summative assessment will be a trade test conducted in terms of Section 26 D of the Skills Development Act through an evaluation of written and practical tasks covering critical aspects of the trade and conducted in a simulated environment at an assessment centre accredited by QCTO by an assessor registered by the National Artisan Moderation Body. The assessment will take place over a minimum of 2 days.
