PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION
This Honours programme is the first year of postgraduate study in Afrikaans and Netherlandic Studies. It is designed to provide the opportunity for further intensive study in Afrikaans and Netherlandic Studies and training in concepts and research methods designed to equip the candidate with the skills necessary either for employment in teaching; electronic and paper media publishing; NGO and Government Service; Translation; Diplomatic Service; Tourism; Cultural Entrepreneurship; Public Relations or for further study at Masters and Doctoral level in Afrikaans and Netherlandic Studies or a related subject area.

This Honours programme is the first year of postgraduate study in African Studies. The programme is intended to be a comparative study of Languages, Literature and Culture; training in concepts and research methods designed to equip the candidate with the skills necessary either for employment in the fields mentioned above or for further study at Masters and Doctoral level in Afrikaans and Netherlandic Studies or a related subject area.
